==Early life==

Emma-Rosa Dias was born in Belfast City Hospital on 27 December 1975. Her mother is of Northern Irish descent and her father is Angolan.
Growing up around her mother’s well known local record shop called Blinkers in the Student's Union of Queen's University Belfast, which Emma’s mother managed between 1978-1986, Emma-Rosa was immersed in an environment of music and subcultural style born from being around stacks of vinyl records, mods, punks, skinheads and new romantics that would frequent Blinkers. At the same time her uncle was a sound engineer for many bands that played in Northern Ireland, including as Pink Floyd, The Clash and Van Morrison.
Due to her outgoing nature as a child, it was at Botanic Primary School Belfast that Emma-Rosa first became interested in performing arts. Encouraged to develop her talent, she joined a Belfast theatre group and won The Lyric Theatre's youth drama award two years in a row. Emma-Rosa also attained an Honours in Grade 1 to 4 ballet from the Royal Academy of Dancing.
1990 was a year of great change when Emma-Rosa (aged 14) left Northern Ireland, moving with her mother who wanted a career change and to connect with family in Koln, Germany. Emma-Rosa remained in Germany until 1998. During this period, Emma-Rosa became fluent in German and presented the first opportunity to venture into the media industry.
